Need help with rear clamshell, support and lifting ideas

I previously said that my Montage was about 90% complete. That included pieces to connect the rear clamshell via 4 (about 8" long) adjustable rods. I've installed them as (as far as my memory goes) told and it's just not working. The plan was evidently in the PO's head and I've got nothing. I do know that he planned to raise and lower via linear actuators, which I'm down for but have no idea how to begin.

I am using gas shocks for mine. It pops open pretty abruptly so I need to hold the clamshell when it opens but I like the action.
