    Holley 850

I originally planned to use a Crower mechanical fuel injection system on my black Mirage (The Werewolf) but finally decided that its learning curve was too steep, at least for now. Instead I bought a used Holley 850 "Double Pumper" that had been modified by milling off its air horn. It never ran right, leaking gas into the intake manifold, always pig-rich no matter if I changed jets, etc. Clearly something was wrong with it. Time was running out to fix this problem so I threw in the towel and bought a new ProForm 850. It is essentially an upgraded Holley CNC'd out of aluminum instead of being cast of zinc. Its glass float level sight gauges make setting the float level far easier, too.

    This is the old Holley:

I think you'll be happier with this carb anyway, even if the Holley worked properly. I found my Proform performed better than the same "size" Holley.
